Tettnang
Montfortplatz 1, 88069 Tettnang
Montfortfest – that means a long weekend of celebrations, with draft beer, music, a historical parade, and fireworks. Tettnang invites you to join in on the first weekend in July. The historical children's and heritage festival delights visitors with a colorful program of events. **Counts give the festival its name** Tettnang is the former residence of the Montfort family. For over 500 years, the noble family influenced the development of the town. So it's no surprise that the Tettnang Children's and Local History Festival bears the name of the counts. Although children's festivals already existed in the 19th century, the actual birth of this festival dates back to 1956. At that time, the mayor and committed citizens decided to organize a festival for the children of Tettnang.
**Historical parade** The Montfort castles and palaces, our daily bread, the world of children, Tettnang history, and guilds are the themes presented by more than 1,000 children and adults in a parade with over 100 groups. On Sunday at 11 a.m., gun salutes will kick off the parade in front of the grandstand on Montfortplatz. Accompanied by numerous bands from the region, nobles, craftsmen, harvest workers, dream figures, citizens, and entrepreneurs will parade through the city center in a colorful procession of carriages, carts, on horseback, and on foot.
**Opening with beer tapping** Where else but in the park of the new castle should the Montfortfest begin? On Friday evening, the mayor of the city and the chairman of the Montfortfest Commission, together with the Tettnang Hop Royalty, will open the festival. The fanfare marches will lead visitors to the stage, where a barrel of beer is waiting to be tapped. Cheers! **Activity area for children and young people** Fun and games are the order of the day in the lower castle park. Children and young people can enjoy the free activities offered by the Montfort Festival Committee. From ball pits and cornhole to classic horseshoe throwing, there is something for everyone. With the "fun makers," every child can create their own individual work of art.
**Amusement park** Right next to the festival grounds, the amusement park with rides for young and old alike will make visitors' eyes light up. **Catering in the castle park** Clubs from Tettnang and the surrounding region will be serving food and drinks to visitors on the festival grounds. The culinary spectrum ranges from hearty steaks to vegetarian Dinnete, from healthy orange juice to delicious wheat beer. And for dessert, there are sweet delicacies at extra stands.
