DANA GILLESPIE The powerful-voiced British blues, jazz, and rock singer and actress Dana Gillespie recorded her first of over 70 albums at the age of fifteen, accompanied by British folk guitarist DONOVAN. Some LPs were produced in the 1970s by DAVID BOWIE. At that time, Dana was the queen of West End musicals in London, starring in "Catch My Soul," "Mardi Gras," and playing Mary Magdalene in the original cast of "Jesus Christ Superstar." From 1975 onwards, Dana developed her acting career, appearing in many films, including "People That Time Forgot," "Bad Timing," and Ken Russell's "Mahler." She also played the Acid Queen in the stage version of "Tommy" and performed in London and Vienna in May Zetterling's "Playthings." In the early 1980s, Dana Gillespie primarily turned to blues and boogie-woogie, and she was a member of the "Mojo Bluesband" for four years. In 1983, she had the hit: "Move Your Body Close to Me." In 1997, she accompanied BOB DYLAN – with whom she has been friends since her youth – on his UK tour. Since 1989, she has been collaborating with Joachim Palden and has performed around the world.
