Erzwäsche 1, 37444 Sankt Andreasberg

The Upper Harz is famous for its species-rich mountain meadows. They are often referred to as "jewels of biodiversity," which is not an exaggeration. It is not uncommon to find over 100 different species of ferns and flowering plants in mountain meadows. The herb-rich meadows, in turn, provide the basis for a variety of insects, especially butterflies. Wet meadows in the stream valleys are the feeding grounds for the rare black stork. The Harz mountain meadows are a centuries-old cultural landscape created by human hands. Meeting point: National Park House Sankt Andreasberg Duration: 1.5 hours Cost: Donations are appreciated. Registration: Not required (for information call 05582 923074)
