For the 60th time, the international speedway elite will gather on August 8 and 9, 2026, at the fastest grass track in the world in Rastede to present top-level sports to the many speedway fans. Rastede is located in the Ammerland district in the northwest of Lower Saxony, 12 kilometers north of Oldenburg and about 25 kilometers from the North Sea. Rastede is part of the ADAC Weser-Ems region. For five days, the many diligent helpers from the Rastede Automobile Club will be working to prepare the racetrack. Since this is a non-permanent racetrack, 1,200 meters of safety barriers will need to be installed, a unique feat in Germany! The international grass track race in Rastede's castle park promises to be a treat for speedway enthusiasts once again. Thrilling races, fearless racers, and technical discussions in the paddock will make this year's event a top highlight. The Rastede Automobile Club (RAC) within the ADAC expects around 5,000 spectators on both race days. Top riders from England, Italy, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Germany will compete in exciting wheel-to-wheel duels, aiming for a spot on the podium. Visitors can look forward to a race in the European Veterans Long Track Series (EVLS) on Saturday at 1:30 PM. There will be two classes: 2-valve (minimum age 50 years) and 4-valve (minimum age 40 years). Additionally, riders from international and national classes, as well as enduro riders, will use the day for free practice. In the evening, there will be a driver meet in the festival tent, where some riders have already confirmed their attendance and will be available for questions from the audience alongside speaker Lars Klimek. On Sunday, free practice will begin at 9 AM, followed by mandatory practice at 10:45 AM. The official welcome and introduction of the riders by Mayor Lars Krause, the speaker duo Lars Klimek and Egon Müller, and RAC Chairman Kay Kudinow will take place at 1 PM. From 1:30 PM, races will be held in four classes (International License, National License, Sidecar Class, Enduro Class). The performance of the RAC club sidecars Mitch Godden/Paul Smith and Nicole Standke/Resi Hölper will be closely watched. In the National License Solo class, all eyes will be on the performance of Ammerland RAC rider Lando Michaelis. Following the great success in 2023, enduro riders will once again participate in this competition, primarily featuring regional riders, including some RAC members. This top event will be commented on by the speaker duo Lars Klimek and Egon Müller. The paddock will be accessible to spectators at all times, allowing direct contact with the riders. A highlight of the race day will again be the attempt to break the grass track world record, which has been held since 2004 by Englishman Kelvin Tatum with an average speed of 143.255 km/h. Sidecar enthusiasts will also have plenty to enjoy this year, with a total of ten teams trying to stand on the winner's podium at the end of the fast, challenging track. The current status of rider commitments will soon be available at www.rasteder-ac.org. The Rastede AC wishes all visitors an exciting racing weekend.
