On the Historical Road through the Hümmlinger South

This guided hike invites you to explore the Hümmling from its original side. Starting from the center of Klein Berßen, the path leads through a varied cultural landscape where forests, fields, and historical traces harmoniously alternate. A special highlight is the Historic Road from 1843: The old cobblestone pavement and the avenue lined with mighty oaks impressively convey how travelers once moved through this area. Those who walk attentively through the landscape will discover small remnants of past times along the way – gnarled heath shrubs remind us of the era when dunes and juniper heaths shaped the landscape of the Hümmling. The tour is accompanied by Birgit Kuper-Gerdes, a certified nature and landscape guide, who shares interesting insights about the history, landscape development, and the unique flora and fauna of the Hümmling along the way. If desired, the joint hike can conclude in Sögel with coffee and cake (not included in the price). A decelerating discovery tour that uniquely combines nature, history, and personal insights.
