New Year's Concert of the Original Calenberger

Red socks, black knee-length trousers, and a green vest: It's time for the Original Calenberger again! On Sunday, February 1, 2026, the brass band from Gehrden will perform its traditional New Year's concert at the Wandelhalle Bad Nenndorf at 3:30 PM. In 2023, the orchestra celebrated its 50th anniversary: On January 17, 1973, 22 friends of high-quality brass music founded this ensemble in Gehrden, Hanover region. A success story began. In no time, the "Original Calenberger" made a name for themselves both nationally and internationally. Concert tours took the members to Brno and Prague in the Czech Republic, to Barbian and Mühlbach in South Tyrol, twice to the Steuben Parade in New York, and in 2022 to participate in the European Championship for Bohemian and Moravian brass music.

With great joy, the invitation to the European Brass Music Festival in Aue-Bad Schlema was accepted in 2024, where 14 bands from 9 countries met. There are 200 bands on the waiting list, and the "Original Calenberger" successfully participated for the third time after 2014 and 2019. Five records and four CDs testify to their previous, highly creative musical work. Since autumn 2013, Jens Schleicher has been leading the orchestra and shaping its musical direction with his passionate conducting.
