Forests exist wherever conditions allow, all over the Earth. And yet, the German forest is incomparable. We stroll through the forest, which has been a natural habitat for humans for millennia. For centuries, it was considered dark and dangerous because it served as a hideout or dwelling for criminals, ghosts, or other sinister creatures. The Germans even revered trees as the seats of their gods. Today, the forest is a favorite place for young and old alike. We enjoy being transported into a wonderful world full of poetry and prose through poems, fairy tales, legends, and music. In the end, everyone can understand why the forest is perhaps the most beloved of all natural motifs in German literature.
