Special event at the LaGa: Alphaville

As one of the few German bands, Alphaville has managed to secure a firm place in the international music scene with hits like "Big In Japan," "Forever Young," and "Sounds Like A Melody," captivating generations of fans. To this day, they are regarded worldwide as one of the most successful pop acts made in Germany. Alphaville was founded by Marian Gold, Bernhard Lloyd, and Frank Mertens in Münster, and their debut album "Forever Young" was released in 1984, becoming an international success right away. Their first single "Big In Japan" quickly made it into the international charts, reaching number 1 in Germany and many other countries. In addition to other successful singles, "Forever Young" especially became a worldwide hit and one of the most well-known songs of the 1980s. With their catchy synth-pop sound and profound lyrics, Alphaville struck a chord with the times – this also applied to their subsequent albums. Following the sensational debut, more successful LPs like "Afternoons In Utopia" (1986) and "The Breathtaking Blue" (1989) followed. Alphaville repeatedly succeeded in evolving their characteristic sound while remaining true to themselves. The band experimented with various musical styles and themes, giving their work an impressive diversity. The Alphaville catalog now includes a total of eight studio albums, with "Eternally Yours" recently reaching number 2 on the German charts. A unique feature of Alphaville is their ability to create timeless music that remains relevant and loved across the decades. "Forever Young," for example, is not only a nostalgic classic but is also repeatedly used in countless international film and television productions, being discovered by new generations, which is impressively documented by the overwhelming number of cover versions from Beyoncé to Bushido. In line with the 40th anniversary, a highly regarded "Forever Young" remake featuring David Guetta, Ava Max, and Alphaville was released.
