Wonderland Ahoy - Even the most obsessed vegetarians don't like to bite the dust.

The Cultural Association of Soltau presents on February 24, 2026, at 8:00 PM in the Waldmühle Library the Soltau Reading Theater with the program: "Wonderland - Ahoi." The theater educators Helmi Ruhkopf and Eberhard Gros, along with pianist Magdalena Großelümern, have once again reached into the shelf of the library of the "burned books" and pulled out the works of Joachim Ringelnatz. The author, cabaret artist, painter, sailor, poet, and adventurer, who is still known today for his humorous poems and stories (including those of the sailor Kuttel Datteldu), led a tumultuous but impoverished life. Ringelnatz was a significant writer, especially inclined towards autobiographical themes, who could also write very soberly and seriously towards the end of his life. However, the major breakthrough, meaning the recognition of his "work," only came after his death. Ringelnatz once said: "Dramatists and bouncers always dream of a big hit." During his lifetime, he did not achieve that big hit. The Soltau Reading Theater serves selected poems and stories to the interested audience, preparing them with plenty of music and song in an appetizing manner.
