Telemann's Birthday, Music and More – By Children for Children

The composer Georg Philipp Telemann, born on March 14, 1681, came to Zellerfeld at the age of 12 to attend the Latin school. The reason for this was his mother, who sent him away so that he would stop making music and focus on his studies. What she could not have known was that Telemann fell under the care of Superintendent Caspar Calvör in Zellerfeld, who supported him both academically and musically. For many years, Telemann's birthday was celebrated as a children's festival in Clausthal-Zellerfeld. Arno Janssen took the initiative to revive this tradition in 2022. We celebrate the birthday as an event by children for children, with adults also welcome as listeners. Among those involved are the children's choir of the Marktkirchengemeinde Clausthal, the school orchestra of RKS, and the brass ensemble of RKS. And in keeping with the tradition of the Telemann birthday, a birthday cake must not be missing!!
