Jan Liebermann, born in 2005, received his first piano lessons at the age of seven and began playing the organ at twelve. He was a young student of Prof. Gerhard Gnann at the University of Music in Mainz and of Prof. Carsten Wiebusch at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main. At the same time, he received piano lessons in the master class of Prof. Dr. Lev Natochenny. He is currently studying at the University of Music and Theatre Munich with Prof. Martin Sander. Jan is the 1st prize winner of the Northern Ireland International Organ Competition 2024, the 1st federal prize winner in the solo organ category at the "Jugend musiziert" competition 2021 with the highest score, the 2nd prize winner of the International Organ Competition Wuppertal 2023, and a prize winner of the "International Young Organist Competition Moscow" 2020, the first International Organ Competition Deidesheim 2020, and the Concours International d’Orgue de Dudelange 2023. Furthermore, Jan is a special prize winner of the German Foundation Music Life. He also received a scholarship from the Jürgen Ponto Foundation Berlin in 2021. His concert activities have taken him to significant centers of organ music, including the Berlin Philharmonie, Müpa Budapest, the Essen Philharmonic, the Freiberg Cathedral, the Paderborn Cathedral, the Limburg Cathedral, the Essen Cathedral, the Münster Cathedral, the Soest Cathedral, the Freiburg Minster, and St. Michaelis Hamburg. International concert tours have also taken him to England, where he performed in York Minster, Westminster Abbey, Salisbury Cathedral, King’s College Cambridge, Exeter Cathedral, Truro Cathedral, Selby Abbey, and Southwark Cathedral in London, among others. In spring 2024, Jan Liebermann made waves in the organ world when he performed all six trio sonatas by Johann Sebastian Bach from memory at several public concerts. For his artistic achievements and commitment, he was awarded the Culture Promotion Prize 2024 by the Rotary Club Mainz. In autumn 2025, Jan Liebermann became the first organist to receive the Deutschlandfunk Promotion Prize since its introduction in 1998, which was awarded to him during the Bremen Music Festival.
