Summer Organ Concerts 2026 - Sebastian Freitag

Born in Paderborn in 1986, he studied church music (A-exam) and organ (concert exam) at the Hochschule für Musik in Detmold under Prof. Gerhard Weinberger, Prof. Dr. Martin Sander, and Prof. Tomasz Adam Nowak, graduating with honors. From 2013 to 2022, Freitag served as the deanery church musician in the Archdiocese of Paderborn, based in Schloss Neuhaus. From 2017 to 2022, Sebastian Freitag held a teaching position for organ at the University of Paderborn. From 2011 to 2013, he was the organist of Paderborn Cathedral. Since March 2022, he has been serving as the cathedral organist at the Cathedral of Ss. Trinitatis in Dresden (Hofkirche). Additionally, he has been teaching organ literature and improvisation at the Hochschule für Kirchenmusik in Dresden since the winter semester of 2024/25. He has cyclically performed the complete works of Bach (2018 in Paderborn and 2025 in Dresden), Franck (2019), and Buxtehude (2021). His activities are complemented by two CD recordings as well as appearances on television and radio.
