DenkmalKunst – KunstDenkmal (DKKD) is a love letter to the monuments of the historic old town of Hann. Münden and at the same time a regionally renowned art festival. Interested citizens and half-timbering enthusiasts are granted access for nine days to houses and monuments that are usually not or only rarely accessible. The special feature: local, regional, and international artists showcase historical buildings, churches, towers, cellars, and courtyards in all their individuality. During the day, the festival presents paintings, graphics, sculptures, photographs, and installations, with visual arts ranging from representational to abstract, creating a great artistic diversity in an extraordinary atmosphere, including on walls, squares, and the three rivers of the half-timbered town. In addition, there are a number of workshops and many opportunities to meet participating artists. Every evening during the festival week, music, theater, cabaret, readings, films, performances, actions, and the now legendary DKKDisko draw crowds to the old walls and special locations of the old town. During this time, the small town in southern Lower Saxony is turned upside down. The festival will take place for the 8th time in 2026. In 2022, more than 135 regional and international artists participated. Over 200 volunteers ensure the success of DKKD during the festival period. Tickets can be purchased online or in the following stores starting now.
