The competition serves as the successor to the "International Piano Competition NEUE STERNE," which was held every two years until 2024, and is organized by the Wernigerode Orchestra Foundation in collaboration with the Association of Friends of Jewish Art and Culture e.V. The musical direction is set by the great composer Frédéric Chopin. The repertoire is partially freely selectable by the participants, making the competition particularly attractive for pianists. Wernigerode also offers ideal conditions for all participants with its historical charm, the excellent acoustics of the concert hall, spacious practice rooms, and the involvement of the Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra Wernigerode. The artistic direction will be accompanied by Albert Mamriev, who is responsible for the content reorientation of the competition. An international jury will select the best pianists in four rounds of competition. The competition is not only aimed at artists but also attracts numerous culture and music enthusiasts from the entire region and beyond. Look forward to concerts, competition rounds, and a grand finale. This significant cultural project is realized thanks to the support and collaboration with the Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra Wernigerode, the Harz District Music School, and Wernigerode Tourism GmbH: special thanks go to our sponsors, whose financial support makes the competition possible.
