Musical treasures by Schein, Monteverdi, Gesualdo, Tallis, Schütz, and others form the tableau for readings from the secret diary of the London gentleman Samuel Pepys. Pepys wrote his historically fascinating, exciting, and amusing texts around the middle of the 17th century. After his death in May 1703, they were initially considered lost before being rediscovered 150 years later. On this evening, music and texts merge into an entertaining acoustic journey into the European early Baroque period.
