LEER – Historic Old Town and its "Christmas Market behind the Waag"

Traditionally, this beautiful Christmas market takes place on the four Advent Sundays. The market is open from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM and stretches from the museum harbor to the Garrelschen Garden. With great attention to detail, the volunteer members have built 23 small houses inspired by the gables of the old town. Handcrafted Tiffany items, embroidered goods, felted products, recycled jewelry, candies, and so much more can be admired here. People come together to open themselves to what Christmas is really about, away from the hustle and bustle of shopping and stress: singing together with the Christmas choirs, anticipation, and family gatherings. There is also plenty of food and drink available, including Rullerkes, baked apples, Christmas cookies, Poffertjes, waffles made by the scouts, Speckendicken, mulled wine, Feuerzangenbowle, punch, and much more.
