Willow Baskets with Catalan Bases
Catalan bases and the baskets built upon them are the focus of this weaving week at the Willow Center. Catalan bases consist of a frame that can be either oval or round. The weaving rods of the base weave serve as stakes and provide the basket with great stability. This allows for various shapes to be realized: straight, rounded, sculptural, or organic. The baskets can have handles made from branches or woven handles. There are numerous ways to creatively and intuitively give the basket its own expression. Beginners as well as advanced weavers are welcome at the Willow Center.
