Walpurgis Night Celebration and Burgest at Bodenteich Castle

On the last day of April, the Celtic festival of Beltane is celebrated, also known as "Walpurgis Night." In the mystical light, the castle grounds, forests, and meadows shine, and the gates to the Otherworld open. Mystical beings appear everywhere, such as goat-footed fauns, graceful elves, nymphs, and goblins... to enchant the people and ultimately dance in a wild circle around the Walpurgis fire to the sounds of captivating music.

May 1st
May 1st is not only recognized as a public holiday by the magistrate, but it is also truly celebrated here. Spring comes into full bloom, and the entire market welcomes a beautiful new year. Customs from ancient times come to life, and families enjoy various activities during their excursion into the Middle Ages. It is also rumored that several fairy beings and elemental spirits from Beltane night will remain to enchant the people. For those who prefer a more hands-on experience, a troupe of knights from Bohemia will arrive especially for the occasion.

May 2nd - 3rd
The diverse facets of the Middle Ages will be brought to life at Bodenteich Castle on the weekend before May 1st. A colorful array of knights, riders, falconry, musicians, jugglers, and children's attractions await you at the castle and in the lakeside meadows. Craftsmen will showcase their skills, far-traveled merchants will offer their spices, while roasters and innkeepers ensure that no one goes hungry or thirsty.
