Jan Hofer - Good evening, ladies and gentlemen!

In times of fake news and uncertainties, Jan Hofer is an outstanding figure in reliable news delivery. As the moderator and chief spokesperson of the Tagesschau, he has become an institution in the German media landscape. He is regarded as the epitome of trustworthy information and shines with his broad knowledge. His popularity is also reflected in surveys: among other accolades, he was named the most popular news presenter in Germany by the market research institute Emnid. In addition to his work in the news business, Jan also dedicated himself to hosting TV talk shows. His first major station was the NDR talk show, before he enriched the German media landscape in the early 1990s with the format Riverboat. The show became one of the most successful talk shows, achieving outstanding ratings with market shares of up to 30%. After 21 years and 415 episodes, he passed on the moderation in 2012. He imparts his profound knowledge in countless lectures as a sought-after speaker and moderator, primarily in the areas of "the news behind the news" and economics. In December 2020, Jan bid farewell after 36 years as the chief spokesperson of the Tagesschau. As a true media professional, he gladly took on the next challenge: in 2021, he participated in the RTL dance show "Let’s Dance" and achieved fifth place. Shortly thereafter, he took on the responsibility for establishing the new news magazine "RTL direkt." For three years, he shaped the show, which quickly secured a firm place in the German media landscape. Jan has also built a considerable community on social media with his likeable personality. Particularly in collaboration with his wife Phong Lan, the two delight their following with a lot of humor and provide insights into their shared life in Mallorca.
