Old Photos from the Osnabrück Neustadt on the Tower of the Johanniskirche

From February 28 to March 14, 2026, an evening stroll to the Johanniskirche is worthwhile: Daily from 7 PM, one of its towers will serve as a projection surface for historical photos. Dozens of images bring the development of the district to life from the 1890s to the 1990s. They evoke familiar sights – but also long-gone buildings and businesses. Some of the photos, which predominantly come from Osnabrück archives and museums, will be presented to the public for the first time. The image display on the church tower is created by a local resident who is passionate about the cultural revitalization of the Neustadt. The former city archivist from Garbsen can realize her idea with funding from the Senator Friedrich Lehmann Foundation. The Johannis-Quartier district office and the St. Johann church community are contributing a diverse supporting program. Local businesses also want to participate in strengthening the neighborhood as a space for experiences and promoting its flourishing.
