Plattgold: Folk in Low German - The Fiddler

Plattgold are two musicians who have found their love for the Low German language. In addition to their own and traditional songs in this dialect, they also translate well-known oldies into Low German. This results in renditions like "Englishman in New York" by Sting, which playfully takes on a unique sound: "Ick bün een Landei in Berlin." Other big names from the entertainment industry, such as Paul Simon, Kris Kristofferson, Paul McCartney, and Volker Lechtenbrink, might be surprised by the Low German side of their work. Werner Winkel has been performing his songs on stage since the 1970s. His guitar, banjo, and harmonica are always with him. Wieland Nord, on cello and guitar, has spent many years in folk music, and he also plays in classical ensembles. Both contribute vocally to the program.
