The founding of the municipal cinema Diepholz in 1987 marked the beginning of a success story that continues to this day. Many of the guests are long-time "regulars" who have been visiting the cinema for years. The focus is on special and as current as possible films that are rarely or not shown at all in the region's cinemas.

When: Every Monday evening
Price per person: €10.50 / reduced €8.50

On this evening, the film "The Hero from Friedrichstraße Station" will be shown. Michael Hartung, the owner of a Berlin video store that is on the verge of bankruptcy, receives a visit in 2019 from a journalist who wants to create a sensational report about the largest mass escape from the GDR in 1983. During his research, he comes across Hartung's name in Stasi files and wants to make public the "heroic deed" of the former signalman: he allegedly redirected a train with 127 passengers to West Berlin by intentionally misaligning the tracks. Hartung denies this but is then swayed by a high fee. The situation becomes a media event, and "the hero" becomes increasingly entangled in half-truths and lies. This becomes a real problem when he falls in love with Paula, who was a child on that very train.
