The wolf is back in the Lüneburg Heath. And while Jannes – like his father and grandfather before him – drives his sheep across the heathlands every day, emotions in the village are running high. "A Thunder Rolls from the North" is a quest for traces in the West German province, the story of a fragile "purely German" idyll. On Niedersachsen Day, the Evangelical Academy is hosting a reading and author discussion with Markus Thielemann, whose novel was on the shortlist for the German Book Prize 2024 and explicitly deals with Lower Saxon themes, landscapes, and emotions.
