Exhibition: Photographs by Eberhard Wolf

“Images are not created in the camera, but in the mind.” This sentence is attributed to the Dadaist and Surrealist Man Ray and fits very well with the working style of the Hameln artist Eberhard Wolf, whose works oscillate between reality and fiction. Eberhard Wolf studied communication design at the University of Wuppertal under Willi Fleckhaus and Bazon Brock. After his first photo essays in the magazine of the F.A.Z., he accompanied Robert Wilson and Philip Glass with his camera during the staging of the opera “CivilWars.” He then began his career as an art director for magazines and newspapers such as PAN, Natur, Capital, Esquire, and Süddeutsche Zeitung. As a freelance designer, he was responsible for the visual redesign of media companies and businesses. As a professor of visual communication, he taught at various universities. In his artistic activities, he primarily engages with photography and transcends the boundaries between documentary photography and visual art. Eberhard Wolf's works have received multiple international awards. His works have been exhibited, among others, at the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich. Additionally, his works have been acquired by institutions and companies. He is a member of the German Society for Photography. Eberhard Wolf lives and works in Hameln.
