Exhibition: Discover the Colorful Diversity of the Oceans

Anna Roik, Stephanie Helber, and Julia Strahl are marine biologists and alumni of the Helmholtz Institute for Functional Marine Biodiversity and the Institute for Chemistry and Biology of the Sea at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg. We invite you on a journey into the vibrant world of tropical coral reefs and explore with you the beauty and biodiversity of our native North Sea. Unfortunately, many of these fascinating and unique habitats are currently under acute threat or have already been lost. The exhibition showcases the structure of tropical reefs and highlights the diversity of both large and small reef inhabitants with exciting and entertaining facts. A highlight of the exhibition is the habitats in the native North Sea, characterized by often unknown and enchanting beauty and biodiversity. Additionally, visitors will gain insight into the research and fieldwork of marine researchers who study the impacts of environmental changes on the biological diversity of our oceans worldwide. More than 25 researchers have contributed photos and art exhibits for this exhibition, aiming to share their curiosity and fascination for our seas and their inhabitants, and to inspire visitors as well.
