Stade Shanty Choir Festival

Shanty choirs from all over Northern Germany present their sea shanties and bring the maritime city to life. People are allowed to sway along to shanties in both German and English. The event traditionally begins with a sailor's service at St. Cosmae Church. While the shanties resonate on the stages in the old town, the shops in the alleys of the old town are also open on Sunday, allowing visitors to combine listening to the old sea songs with a leisurely shopping stroll.
