Hagen Rether "Love"

On March 1, 2026, Hagen Rether will perform his program "LOVE" at the Stadtgalle in Aurich. The show starts at 6:00 PM, with doors opening at 5:00 PM. The world is becoming increasingly unjust every day, and the web of political and economic dependencies is growing ever tighter: Against this backdrop, Hagen Rether brings forth puppeteers, straw men, and scapegoats. He turns the so-called social consensus upside down and addresses systemic issues all at once. Rether's program, which is both comedic and painful, lasting up to three and a half hours, infects the audience with two dangerous viruses: dissatisfaction with simple explanations and the realization that we all have the power to change. LOVE, the title that has remained constant for years in this constantly evolving program, does not appear in the form of hearts finding each other—romantic elements are only occasionally provided by the versatile pianist's music. However, what becomes evident in his powerful plea for compassion is the love for humanity of a cabaret artist who still believes in enlightenment and the possibility of redemption, even when standing at the edge.
