Cultural Break in the Hospital - Weaving and Spinning

Spinning at the Hospital! The museum invites you to a "Cultural Break" at the Winsen Hospital! Waiting at the hospital has never been so entertaining! The foyer of the hospital will transform into an action space of the museum at the Marstall. Volunteers from the museum's spinning group and the museum's weaving workshop will demonstrate old craft techniques: wool will be spun on spinning wheels, and a small loom will show how fabric is created from it. Spinning and weaving have a long tradition in Northern Germany – until the 19th century, linen was produced from the region's flax, while spinning fostered exchange and conversation. Therefore, the museum at the Marstall hosts a regularly occurring spinning circle and historical looms. Visitors to the hospital can watch the volunteers at work that afternoon, ask questions, and learn about the techniques. At the same time, there will be an opportunity to learn more about the museum. The event is free of charge and takes place in the publicly accessible foyer of the hospital. It is the second of a total of six planned events in cooperation with the Winsen Hospital. The project is funded by the Giesela and Rolf Wiese Social and Cultural Foundation (GiRoWi Foundation) and the Friends of the Winsen Hospital Association. The offerings are aimed at all interested parties – not just patients, relatives, or staff. Also note on March 15: Concert at the hospital.
