On Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at 6 PM, the Museum of Non-Objective Art (MgK) invites you to the presentation of the newly released publication "Stefan Reiterer – Inflection Point." The artist Stefan Reiterer will be present and will introduce the book together with the museum director and editor Wilko Austermann. In a conversation, both will provide insights into Reiterer's artistic practice as well as the creation and concept of the publication. The book was first publicly presented with great resonance on January 16, 2026, at fjk3 – Space for Contemporary Art in Vienna. The event at MgK continues this international presentation series and offers the audience the opportunity for direct exchange with the artist. The Austrian artist Stefan Reiterer (born 1988, lives in Vienna) transforms digital maps, satellite images, and data materials into abstract, analog painting. Based on manipulated image sources from Google Earth and NASA, among others, illusory topologies and pseudo-cartographies emerge that destabilize familiar visual systems and raise questions about orientation, location, and perception: What is recognized, what is read anew, what is consciously rejected? In her contribution, Andrea Kopranovic describes Reiterer's painted emptiness as a form of "worm-eaten" and projection surface for glitches, black holes, and abysses – symbolically representing open interpretations, visual enrichments, and yet-to-be-thought possible spaces. The texts in the book illuminate Reiterer's work from art-historical, literary, and theoretical perspectives and underscore its international relevance in the current discourse on non-objective and digitally influenced painting. The richly illustrated publication is published by the renowned DCV Verlag and comprehensively documents Reiterer's exhibition "Inflection Point" from 2025 at the Museum of Non-Objective Art. With contributions from Wilko Austermann, Andrea Kopranovic, Diethard Leopold, and the internationally awarded writer Clemens J. Setz, the book brings together distinguished voices from art history, theory, and literature. The design is by the Vienna-based designer Marie Artaker. The catalog is available in regular bookstores for the price of 38 euros and can be purchased exclusively at the Museum of Non-Objective Art for 25 euros.
