Castle Christmas at Castle Satzvey

The Christmas Market at Burg Satzvey has been one of the outstanding historical Christmas markets in the Eifel region for many years. The festive atmosphere, with its shimmering lights, Christmas scents, and the historic ambiance of the castle, creates a unique experience. At the market stalls, vendors offer handcrafted goods and regional specialties, including wooden toys, Christmas ornaments, nativity scenes, soaps, and incense. A special highlight is the medieval nativity play, which has been performed several times daily in the castle park for nearly three decades. The scenes are presented in Latin and Middle High German, with a herald translating them into German. For children, there is Santa's workshop, where they can create their wish lists and personally hand them to Santa Claus. The Christmas Market supports the preservation of the castle and is maintained by the family of Count Beissel von Gymnich under the motto "Preservation through Entertainment." Other events throughout the year also invite visitors.
