Guided hike of the southern Saxon Ring

The guided hike on the southern section of the Sachsenring in Bad Driburg offers a unique opportunity to explore the diverse landscape and history of the region. The Sachsenring, an 18-kilometer circular hiking trail, encircles the town and leads through picturesque beech forests, past historical sites, and provides impressive panoramic views. The southern part of the trail begins above the former Uhlenmühle, from where a first, stunning view of Bad Driburg unfolds. The path continues through dense beech forests to the so-called Zigeunerplatz and the Trappist farm, a former monastery. A special highlight is the ascent to the Iburg, where the Sachsenklause invites hikers to take a break and enjoy another unique panoramic view of the surroundings. The return path to the valley is downhill and shorter, making the conclusion of the hike pleasant. The route covers about 8 to 10 kilometers and can be completed in approximately three hours. The hikes take place regardless of weather conditions and begin at the hiking information point at the level crossing on Langen Straße 140. It is recommended to wear sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate clothing. Dogs on a leash are welcome. This hike combines nature experiences with cultural insights and offers both locals and visitors an excellent opportunity to experience the beauty and history of Bad Driburg up close.
