Special exhibition "CRYSTALLOGRAPHIES - FRAGILE DISORDER" (in the Westphalian Salt Worlds)

The Westphalian Salt Worlds will present the special exhibition "CRYSTALLOGRAPHIES – FRAGILE DISORDER" from October 25, 2025, to June 2026. The Mendener artist Anno Weihs explores the aesthetics and fragility of crystalline salt structures. The exhibition connects the historical salt extraction with the artistic representation of salt formations in delicate structures and color gradients. This ephemeral beauty is captured in Fine Art Prints and made accessible to the public. Works from Weihs' series "Terrain" will be displayed, as well as pieces created with salt crystals from Bad Sassendorf and Westernkotten. With "Terrain," Weihs references the concept of photography pioneer William Henry Fox Talbot from 1844, which views nature as an artistic genius. The exhibition impressively links the themes of industrial and spa history, natural sciences, and art.
