Alhousseini Anivolla, former lead guitarist and singer of the internationally renowned desert blues band Etran Finatawa, founded the trio ANEWAL in 2014. With ANEWAL, he combines traditional African melodies with modern soundscapes, creating a unique musical experience. The band is characterized by hypnotic two-chord jams, trance-like rhythms, and powerful, blues-infused guitar sounds. Anivolla's warm, relaxed voice, which he sings in his mother tongue, adds a special depth to the pieces. As an exceptionally sensitive guitarist, Anivolla varies his playing with subtle nuances, using natural distortions and allowing his blues-inspired phrases to float over long, swinging grooves.
