Ottoplatz 7, 50679 Köln

Cologne-Deutz, a district with a rich historical heritage, invites you on an impressive journey through time with the Deutz Path. As early as 310 AD, the Romans built a fortress here, laying the foundation for settlement. Along a circular route of about 1.5 kilometers, the traces of saints, Prussians, and the cradle of social democracy can be experienced. Starting from Ottoplatz, the Deutz Path leads to 13 notable stations: from Deutz train station to Deutzer Freiheit, and on to significant churches and cultural sites. Each station highlights a historical episode, such as the story of a bunker from World War II or the development of a beloved local pub that is closely linked to Deutz's identity. Initiated by the Deutz Citizens' Association, this project showcases the diverse facets of the district and emphasizes that Deutz not only offers the best view of the cathedral but is also an indispensable part of Cologne. Exploring on foot allows for a more relaxed experience and a deeper connection to the urban history. The Deutz Path can be started at any point, providing flexibility for individual exploration.
