The Mandalay Project

The Mandelay Project takes you into the world of Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht by presenting their works in a unique musical evening. The production tells the story of characters like Polly, Mackie, Nana, and Jenny, who dream of distant places such as Alabama, Mahagonny, Youkali, Surabaya, and Mandelay, while posing the question: "What does man live on?" The answer is musically interpreted through a mix of desire, shame, and wrongdoing. The performance is characterized by the creative collaboration of three Brazilian musicians and an actress, who enrich Weill's music with innovative elements. The result is a feast for the ears and eyes, infusing the sophisticated lyrics and classical melodies with new impulses. The event takes place at the studio stage of the Lippstadt City Theater.
