Deutsche Zentrale für Tourismus e.V.
Obernstraße, 28832 Achim
It is one of the largest and most popular in the region, with its more than 50 different stalls. Throughout the entire length of the pedestrian zone, a variety of fresh delicacies are offered on two days of the week, such as fruits and vegetables, honey, asparagus, meat products, southern fruits, smoked goods, organic products, as well as hot meals and fresh baked goods from the wood oven, along with seasonal goods, plants, and flowers. Achim received permission for a flea and livestock market as early as 1752. The concession was renewed in 1767 after the Seven Years' War. From then on, regular flea and livestock markets were held in Achim, attracting visitors not only from the surrounding area. Since 1910, there has been a so-called twice-weekly market in Achim, which initially took place in the Old Marketplace. In 2010, the Achim weekly market celebrated its 100th anniversary in grand style. In the past as well as today, the Achim weekly market has been and continues to be a popular meeting place for the locals and visitors. The market, along with the surrounding shops, restaurants, and cafés, invites people to shop, stroll, and linger, to chat with friends and acquaintances, and to eat and drink.
