For centuries, hydropower was the most important energy source at and in the Rammelsberg ore mine. An impressive testament to this is the Roeder system, designed by the chief mining officer Johann Christoph Roeder. It consisted of underground watercourses, shafts, and drive wheels, providing the Rammelsberg mining operation with high efficiency in the 19th century. During the tour, you will follow the path of the water that set the massive wheel and artificial wheels in motion underground.

April to October: 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM, 3:00 PM, 4:00 PM
The UNESCO World Heritage site Rammelsberg is closed on December 24th and 31st. Minimum age: 4 years.
