From Ore Chunk to Concentrate: How is Copper Extracted from Ore?!

A small jolt goes through the group, and then the inclined lift starts moving. It takes you 40 meters up to one of the last remaining ore processing plants in Germany. Here, the ore extracted from the Rammelsberg was crushed and enriched into high-quality concentrates using the so-called flotation process. During the tour, you will follow the path of the ore – from extraction through the various stages of processing to transport to the smelting works. Along the way, you will get to know different machines and their functions more closely. Seasonally, the inclined lift operates from April to the end of October. In the winter months, you will ascend to the ore processing plant on foot.

April to October: 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM
On December 24 and December 31, the UNESCO World Heritage site Rammelsberg is closed.
