And although there is only a single actor on stage, Vasili Zavrakis, the tavern atmosphere fills the room, with all its peculiarities that the hungry guests quickly come to love and appreciate. Quite different from Costa, who needs an ouzo after each guest, the poor man. So it's no wonder that not everything runs as smoothly as Costa's wife wishes in the tavern kitchen. It wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the restaurant testers and the Italian competition from across the street. A slight sense of overwhelm spreads, as does the host himself, out of sheer desperation. Vasilios Zavrakis not only takes on the role of Costa in "Ouzo for One." He gives each protagonist their own voice, facial expressions, and gestures, and casually showcases his dexterity on the bouzouki (Greek long-necked lute) and guitar. "I basically grew up in a Greek restaurant. My parents had a tavern in Hamburg. After studying acting and spending a few years on stage, writing 'Ouzo for One' was the logical consequence," Zavrakis explains. "Where else could I better combine my passions for music, acting, and ouzo... I mean, Greek food?" Ouzo for One premiered in 2024 in Wangerland, played to a sold-out house in 2025, and due to high demand, is back on stage in Hooksiel this year.
