From the early Westphalian landscapes around Soest and Münster during his studies in Düsseldorf from 1885 to 1889, the first Worpswede landscapes of the early 1890s, the large representative Worpswede paintings up to 1900, the powerful studies of the time with Paula Modersohn-Becker until 1907, the luminous paintings of the early Fischerhude years, to the mature, nuanced, highly colorful works of his late period, the arc of Otto Modersohn's life's work is drawn. The exhibition represents the qualitative essence of this, arguably the most significant German landscape painter of his time, whose work can surprise with its diversity and whose appreciation still seems incomplete.
