Industrial culture elsewhere: Nachtigall Colliery in Witten

For several years, the Photographic Society of Osnabrück has been presenting small photo exhibitions in the Haseschacht building of the MIK at irregular intervals. This series is called "Industrial Culture Elsewhere," as the photographers embark on excursions throughout Germany to capture images of different sites of industrial culture. The photographs provide a perspective beyond one's own environment, showcasing impressions of industrial cultural landscapes from other regions and allowing for interesting comparisons with the conditions at one's own doorstep in Piesberg. The Nachtigall mine is part of the LWL Museum of Industrial Culture and is located at the entrance to the Muttental valley in Witten. This is where coal mining in the Ruhr area began more than 300 years ago.
