This concert brings together works from three centuries – from the baroque festivity of Bach to the classical elegance of Mozart, and the expressive sound language of Beethoven and Sibelius. With Mozart's concert aria "Per questa bella mano" KV 612, you will hear a special rarity that highlights not only the bass voice but also an instrument rarely featured as a soloist: the double bass. In this aria, singing and instrument come together in a virtuosic interplay. The highlight of the evening is Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 in C Minor op. 67, whose distinctive opening is among the most famous motifs in music history. From the dark beginning to the triumphant conclusion in C Major, the symphony unfolds a dramatic development throughout.
