Cajon - The Box Rocks! Drumming Course for Beginners (Adults and Youth from 16 Years Old)

The Cajon (Spanish: "wooden box; drawer") is a versatile drum with a striking surface made of wood. Its sound is short and dry with a pronounced bass component. The "Cajonero" sits on their instrument while playing. Originally developed by African slaves from transport boxes, the Cajon has been used in various music styles of Latin America (primarily in Peru and Cuba). Since the late 1970s, it has become an integral part of Spanish Flamenco groups and has established itself in recent years as an alternative to the drum kit in acoustic music. The Cajon is also excellent for rhythmic group instruction. After an introduction to the various striking techniques, we will practice simple rhythm patterns both unison and in harmony. Additionally, we aim to accompany various songs from the pop and rock genres to a CD. I am happy to accommodate individual requests. Instruments can be rented from me (fee €5.00).
