African Drumming

Anyone who is excited about African drum rhythms, who wants to try playing the djembe or deepen their knowledge, or who simply enjoys rhythmic music is warmly welcome! First, we will focus on the playing technique of the djembe and the various sounds. We will practice different patterns, principles of hand-to-hand playing, and interaction with others. In the main part, we want to work on a West African rhythm with the djembe and the bass drums Kenkeni, Sanban, and Dundun. Here, the melody that is created by the harmonious interplay of the different bass drum voices will be particularly emphasized. Together with the accompanying rhythms of the djembe, we will bring all voices together to groove and finally arrange them into a complete song.
