Open Gardens Uckermark: Crane Farm Mescherin

The garden shapes the spacious grounds of the Kranichhof Mescherin, where a guesthouse and cultural venue is being created on a former farm in the old town center of Mescherin. It is a farmhouse garden that captures the atmosphere of old brick walls and the adjacent wilderness of the Lower Oder Valley National Park. Between the red brick walls of the former barn and stables, beautiful seating areas invite visitors to look, rest, and engage in conversations. In the herb garden, visitors can discover more than 30 native herbs and wild plant species. The meadow with the walnut tree offers space for playing, celebrating, and picnicking. Where the barn doors once were, the view opens up to an adjacent forest garden. Beyond that, the wilderness begins in a small valley that connects the hills of the national park with the riverbank of the Oder. In the garden beds bordered with old field stones, various vegetable varieties, wild plants, and flowers grow in good company.
