This trumpet concerto – written by arguably the best jazz trumpeter in the world – uniquely combines modern trumpet language with classical music. It is paired with a work that is among the greatest, most beautiful, and most beloved of the 19th century: Antonín Dvořák's Symphony "From the New World." In it, Dvořák united the characteristics of the music of Native Americans, plantation slaves, and African Americans with European sounds.
