Bonhoeffer – The Final Stage

In our series "Against Forgetting," we are showing the film "Bonhoeffer – The Last Stage" this year. It is a US-German-Canadian co-production by Eric Till from the year 2000, featuring Ulrich Tukur in the lead role. The dramatic film tells the life story of the Lutheran theologian and resistance fighter Dietrich Bonhoeffer. The film was produced by NFP Teleart (Berlin), Norflicks Productions Ltd., and the East German Broadcasting Brandenburg. It was filmed in Germany, the Czech Republic, and Canada. The film premiered in Germany on August 24, 2000. At the Monte-Carlo TV Festival, the film won the award for Best Television Film in 2000. At the Munich Film Festival, the film also won an award in 2000 with its director Eric Till. Additionally, actor Robert Joy was nominated for the Gemini Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role for the film in 2001. For more information: Hof-Theater.
