Ten-year-old Ida has only one goal: she wants to become a polar researcher. With her imaginary best friend, the polar expert Robert Falcon Scott, she meticulously documents her daily life and trains to navigate extreme environments. And Ida knows all about those, because when she comes home, she never knows in what state she will find her mother. There is a rift in Ida's mother that splits her into a South Pole and a North Pole half, teaching Ida to protect her home from the outside world. But one day, not only does her teacher insist on speaking with her mother, but there is also a curious neighbor child sitting in the stairwell, which threatens to shake Ida's carefully constructed protective wall. This sensitive story, told with fine humor, was awarded the special prize of the German Children’s and Youth Theatre Award in 2022.
