AscheMOND or The Fairy Queen

Opera by Helmut Oehring using music by Henry Purcell with texts by William Shakespeare, Adalbert Stifter, Heinrich Heine, and Helmut Oehring | World Premiere Cottbus Version Helmut Oehring was born in 1961 in East Berlin to deaf parents and is now considered one of the outstanding contemporary composers internationally. His mother tongue is the sign language of the deaf, which is related to his audiovisual music through the spatial aspect of a bodily expression. In AscheMOND, Oehring allows different temporal and expressive levels to oscillate and relates the spheres of silence to those of sound. A modern orchestra and a Baroque ensemble communicate with each other, complemented by two instrumental and vocal soloists who also perform on stage.
