A sensational mystery. Uniting all colors, gray forms a monotone surface. Yet, it glitters profoundly. In Kaija Saariaho's "Starry Sky," infinity shines, in "Mirrors," the instruments reflect, and Luciano Berio's tambourine sound shimmers. Highlights sparkle in the works of Rebeca Vilpuu and Luigi Dallapiccola, while Younghi Pagh-Paan's sunset seeks the deep earth sound. Gray reveals itself in a profound way in Barry Yuk Bun Wan's work, adventurous in the notation of Pierre Mariétan, and surprising in the improvisational stone play.
